AUTISM
Until 2013 High Functioning Autism was called Asperger's Syndrome. HFA covers a very broad spectrum of behaviors. Rarely do any two children display the same range of behaviors. It is my experience that unless your child falls into the mild to severe range of autism there are not many resources available in our area. I've provided a link to a great website that can provide lots of information in the button below.

For adults I've provided a link you can copy and paste into your browser here.

PHYSICIANS WHO CAN GET YOU STARTED

PROVIDERS WHO CAN DIAGNOSE HFA

Physicians who can get you started
Only physician practices who are known to be able to refer you to a provider who can do an evaluation and provide a diagnosis are listed here.
Alabaster Pediatrics
This is a pediatric physician office. In order to refer you for services you need to be an established patient. The physicians are able to refer you to someone who can give you a diagnosis. They are also able to refer you for OT, PT and speech therapy. In addition, they can provide management for ADHD.

Providers who can diagnose HFA
Only providers who are known to be able to provide an HFA diagnosis are listed here
Grayson and Associates
This is a behavioral/mental health office. At least one of the providers here is known to be able to evaluate for HFA. Your insurance may or may not cover these providers and you may or may not require a referral from a primary care doctor to get an appointment. They can also provide ADHD evaluations.
